While we at PlugRush are extremely skeptical of their true motives, it doesn’t mean we don’t want to keep our valued publishers and advertisers informed and protected.
What ads may be affected?
The new browser, with its built-in ad blocker, will aim to block ad types in violation of the Better Ads Standards. Below you will find a list of ads that may be blocked. Ones that have potential to affect PlugRush users are marked in bold text with an *.

They also have some “abusive” ad experiences they will want to get rid of… The standards from the Coalition for Better Ads listed above won’t be the only rules that Google plans to impose. They also posted a list of “Abusive Experiences” they plan to punish websites for.
We interpret this to mean that publisher sites should not redirect without the visitor choosing this and that banner ads should not be misleading (i.e. by containing fake play buttons or fake profile information of a woman shown in a dating ad) to the visitor.
Meet these new rules with skepticism
While Google may try to sell all these new guidelines as security features, we’re not buying it. It must be noted that many of the guidelines are quite unclear and also unreasonable from the viewpoint of someone trying to generate income with online advertising.
Even if all the rules were clear and reasonable (we do not believe they are), Google is not the appropriate authority to establish such rules. Their main product is search based advertisements and the types of ad formats affected negatively by these new rules they’re imposing would be the ones in direct competition with their main product (i.e. banner advertisements).
We don’t believe you should allow a self-appointed authority to dictate how you monetize traffic, be it as an advertiser or publisher. And we’re confident you won’t have to as a PlugRush user.
